Wolf Puppies 2008
The Wildlife Science Center (WSC) is proud to announce a new partnership between the Ministry of Environment of British Columbia and the WSC. Four wolf puppies came to live at WSC in the spring of 2008, after being removed from the wild by Canadian biologists. The Ministry of Environment has responsibility for the predator management program of the mountain caribou recovery plan developed by the Species at Risk Coordination Office. The plan includes a fertility control program on wolves, and the ministry is searching out non-lethal methods of control.
Ministry staff has asked that WSC and our partners at the St. Louis Zoo work to develop non-surgical field techniques to control wolf fertility.
