Mexican Gray Wolf

Geographic Range: Until recent times, the Mexican Wolf ranged the Sonora and Chihuahua Deserts from central Mexico to western Texas, southern New Mexico, and central Arizona. They have been reintroduced into New Mexico and Arizona.
Status: Still protected under the Endangered Species Act
Length: length 1.2 to 1.5 meters and a maximum height of about 80 cm
Weight: 27-37 kilograms
Description: The Mexican Gray Wolf is the smallest grey wolf subspecies present in North America, coloration varies greatly, running from gray to gray-brown, all the way through the canine spectrum of white, red, brown, and black.
Habitat: open spaces
Typical Diet: The Mexican wolf's main prey in the wild is white-Tailed deer; however, it may also eat elk, pronghorn, rabbits, and other small mammals.
