Matching Grant Opportunity
I wish you could see the faces of the boy scouts when 50 wolves howl at once-or hear the exclamations from the kindergartners when they came face to face with a great-horned owl. Research tells us that these experiences are not just fun but are critical for the development of a child. Every visitor to the Wildlife Science Center walks away with a unique outdoor experience, and buried within each visit is a science lesson only possible in a living classroom such as ours.
As you know, the Wildlife Science Center (WSC) is home to wolves, cougars, black bears, bobcats, lynx, raptors and other wildlife. WSC is honored to be the only facility in MN and surrounding states to provide space to the critically endangered red wolf and Mexican gray wolf captive breeding programs. We combine the study of these and other wildlife with the education of our children. Licensed science teachers direct our education programs, a recipe for success, as evidenced by our visiting teachers:
“I have taught for almost 30 years and taken kids on hundreds of fieldtrips – the trip today was hands down my all time favorite (not just because I love animals either). The kids learned so much and were so enthusiastic…” Kim Schaffer, Breck School
“…My hope is that the transformation that came over my students during our study of wolves and our excellent trip to your center may also come over them in other studies in their lives…”
Maria Therres, St. John School
These and other experiences are only made possible through donors like you. Right now we have a generous donor offering a matching grant of $5000.00. You can double your money by joining the pack today! These are trying times, so I know that every penny counts for you, as it does for the WSC. Every dollar counts!
Your gift today of $50 a month provides captive space for 1 red wolf for a year, $25 a month provides vaccines for wolves for one year, $10 a month saves a cougar kitten, or $5 a month provides heartworm medicine for wolves for 1 year.
Donate Today!
I thank you for all that you do, and invite you to visit the animals and staff to get reacquainted with our one-of-a-kind experience.
Warmest regards,
Peggy Callahan
